Musical Words

So after posting about my favorite theological words and my favorite medical words I decided to create one more list encompassing some favorite words.

I have studied music in the past on a very small scale. I really don't feel like I can call myself a musician but I am certainly a music afficiendo, especially of the classical and sacred variety.

Thus to avoid a ritardondo in this post, here is my list of musical and vocal terms.

1)adagio
2)allegro
3)fortissimo
4)pianissimo
5)fermata
6)recitative
7)oratorio
8)bass buffo

I would have gotten into FAR less trouble on a brief trip to Italy if I'd known what a fermata was:

It's a place where the bus (temporarily) stops before going on again.

Thanks for the comment, Tony. I think I remember you or John mentioning something about that. I just realized I think I misspelled "fermata." Oh dear. :) Glad you brought it up so I would catch it. LOL!
